My life's reflection through the Book of Nehemiah: BUILDING GOOD STRONGHOLDS (Part 2)

I have had to deal with a few "walls" myself in the past (and still dealing) - walls that got erected to protect my heart.
I have also taken vows or even spoken words over myself and situations (erecting strongholds).  By strongholds I mean things in my mind that I believe regarding myself and my situations I find myself in (whether true or not).
For example:  I have many times said
"I'm a bad mother."
"I will never be good enough."
"I will never succeed at anything."
"This situation is hopeless."
"Oh, he will never change."

Besides for the fact that I have spoken death over myself, situations and other people, I had to break this toxic thinking down.  So in God's love He came through discipline and correction to break down the walls that I have set up around my heart and my life.

Do you know why?
Because God wants to be my Stronghold!!!
He wants to tell me who I am in Him and NOT what I have made myself to believe or focus on the circumstances that I'm currently in!!!

Psalm 31:3-4
"For you are my high fortress, where I’m kept safe. You are to me a stronghold of salvation. When you deliver me out of this peril, it will bring glory to Your name. As You guide me forth I’ll be kept safe from the hidden snares of the enemy— the secret traps that lie before me— for you have become my rock of strength."

HOW?

1.  Completely trusting that God is on my side to do it
Psalm 18:29
"With you as my strength I can crush an enemy horde, advancing through every stronghold that stands in front of me."

AND

2. Leading every thought captive into the obedience of Christ
2 Cor 10:3-5 (MEV)
"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ."

AND

3. Knowing that Jesus nailed everything to the cross
Romans 6:11 (MSG)
"From now on, think of it this way: Sin speaks a dead language that means nothing to you; God speaks your mother tongue, and you hang on every word. You are dead to sin and alive to God. That’s what Jesus did."

AND

4.  Knowing that I cannot do it on my own
John 15:5-6
".... just as the branch cannot bear any fruit unless it shares the life of the vine, so you can produce nothing unless you go on growing in me (Jesus). I am the vine itself, you are the branches. It is the man who shares my life and whose life I share who proves fruitful. For the plain fact is that apart from me you can do nothing."

Tomorrow I'll be concluding the breaking down of walls, and then we will start looking at where to start to rebuild good strongholds....

..... to be continued
